Guest Work Agency (GWA) Director and Founder Alana Kushnir has become a Board Director of the Jewish Museum of Australia: Gandel Centre of Judaica.

APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Having served as a volunteer director of a broad range of non-profit arts organisations in Australia over the past two decades, Alana’s appointment to the Board of Directors of the Jewish Museum of Australia marks the first time that the art lawyer and curator will be combining her expertise in the art sector with her Jewish heritage.

Alana commented on joining the Board of the Museum: “For decades, Jewish voices have played a crucial role in the cultivation of the creative industries in Australia. So, it is heartbreaking to see that Jewish artists, arts workers and philanthropists are being shunned en masse today. Now more than ever, I could not think of a better time to join this important cultural institution in its mission to not only share the Jewish experience, but to ensure that it continues to thrive in Australian society for generations to come”.

ABOUT THE JEWISH MUSEUM OF AUSTRALIA

At the intersection of art and Jewish culture, the Jewish Museum of Australia: Gandel Centre of Judaica is a place for all people to share in the Australian Jewish experience.

For almost 45 years, the Museum has celebrated a truly global people through an Australian prism with curiosity and connection at its heart. Creating world-class exhibitions, programs and events, and design experiences, the Museum devises entry points that are compelling for Jewish and non-Jewish audiences of all ages and backgrounds.

In a time of growing intolerance and rising antisemitism, the Museum provides a reason to come together, share ideas and exchange perspectives. A place of learning, creativity and multi-generational experiences designed to strengthen social cohesion, combat prejudice and share the wonders of our collective similarities and differences.

Director and Board Co-President Gideon Kline says: “We’re thrilled to be welcoming Alana to the Museum’s Board of Directors. As a trusted advisor to many leading figures in the Australian arts scene and outstanding advocate for Jewish creatives, we warmly welcome Alana’s ability to help us tell the story of Jewish life in Australia.”
