Guest Work Agency Director Alana Kushnir Announced as 2021 Australian Blockchain Industry Awards Finalist

Alana Kushnir has been announced as an ‘Education Leader of the Year’ finalist in Blockchain Australia’s 2021 ‘Blockies’ awards.

Guest Work Agency founder and director Alana Kushnir has been shortlisted for the ‘Education Leader of the Year’ category in the 2021 ‘Blockies’ awards. The awards, run by Blockchain Australia, recognise leadership and excellence in the blockchain industry and community.

Recognising contributions to blockchain education and awareness

As defined on the Blockies website, the ‘Education Leader of the Year’ category specifically recognises the work of educators dedicated to the improvement of blockchain awareness and knowledge and will be awarded to an individual who offered their time, expertise and networks in support of blockchain educational initiatives.

In her Blockies nomination, Alana noted her involvement in educating artists and arts organisations in Australia and internationally on the legal ins and outs of advanced technologies, particularly blockchain and NFT (non-fungible token) technologies.

Over the past year, Alana has been a guest on numerous podcasts and featured in magazines, national newspapers and other publications. She was recently interviewed by Australian legal publication Lawyers Weekly on legal issues and trends in the NFT space.

Alana has also organised and participated in bespoke workshops and talks on blockchain and NFTs for numerous arts organisations.

Programs to advance education on cryptocurrency and new technology

Alana is a member - and the sole Australian contributor - of the COALA (Coalition for Automated Legal Application) NFT Licensing Taskforce. The Taskforce, comprised of technologists, artists and lawyers from around the world, is focused on developing open source licences for NFTs, and the technical implementation of the licences.

Since 2019, Alana has also been the Principal Investigator of the Serpentine Legal Lab, a project run by London’s Serpentine gallery conducting extensive research into the legal issues facing artists when working with advanced technologies, including blockchain and NFTs. The Legal Lab released its first report in August 2021.
