Guest Work Agency has advised Australian artist Emma Coulter on a significant public art commission in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales titled 'let them feel the light.’

‘LET THEM FEEL THE LIGHT’

This extraordinary piece was especially designed for Coffs Harbour's new cultural and civic space, Yarrila Place, which was officially opened by Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese in September of this year.

Existing at the heart of the building, the work traverses the light filled atrium space, dispersing colour and illumination, in acknowledgement of the meaning of Yarrila, whilst also drawing inspiration from Coffs Harbour’s geographic coastal location.

The artist comments, “drawing on Coffs geographic coastal location the colours consider the idea of light refraction on the water, layered with the idea of illumination in acknowledgement of the meaning of Yarrila Place... The idea ‘Let Them Feel the Light’ describes how I hope that the community coming to Yarrila Place might experience this amazing cultural space and the beautiful Coffs Coast region.”

Coulter collaborated with the Coffs Harbour City Council, BVN Architects, iAM Projects and Stainless Aesthetics in the realisation of the artwork.

LEGAL SERVICES PROVIDED FOR EMMA COULTER’S PUBLIC ART COMMISSION

Guest Work Agency Founder and Director, Alana Kushnir, provided advice on the contractual arrangements involving the design, fabrication and installation of the artwork. Alana says,

“We loved working with Emma on this ambitious project. Let Them Feel the Light is a great example of the transformative role that public art can play in contemporary civic space. When independent legal advice is sought upfront, the design, delivery and preservation of a public artwork can really thrive.”
