GUEST WORK AGENCY ADVISES ARTIST EMILY FLOYD ON PUBLIC ART COMMISSION AT UNION STATION
Guest Work Agency has advised renowned Australian artist Emily Floyd on a significant public art project for the recently upgraded Union Station, Victoria.
‘KING PARROT’ SCULPTURES
Union Station in Mont Albert, Victoria, has recently been upgraded as part of Victoria’s Level Crossing Removal Project. Floyd was selected to create a new artwork for the site.
Floyd’s King Parrot sculptures have been permanently installed at Union Station.
The works draw on local wildlife and their place in urban environments, a particularly important consideration as cities continue to sprawl outwards and interact with native ecosystems. Emily told the Level Crossing Removal Project: “It has been an honour to create the artworks for the new station. I especially hope the King Parrots will encourage visitors to consider the values of ecology, biodiversity and care for the environment.”

LEGAL SERVICES PROVIDED FOR EMILY FLOYD’S PUBLIC ART COMMISSION
Guest Work Agency Founder and Director, Alana Kushnir, provided advice on the contractual arrangements involving the design, fabrication and installation of the artwork.
Alana explains, “We have had the privilege of working with Emily on major public art projects for many years. Each commission brings with it an opportunity to consider how best to structure the relationships between collaborators, and how to alleviate the kinds of risks that can arise within the settings of permanent large-scale works. Congratulations to Emily and her team on the successful delivery of King Parrot.”
