Alana Kushnir Named Sole Practitioner of the Year at the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2022

Guest Work Agency (GWA) Director and Founder Alana Kushnir has been named the ‘Sole Practitioner of the Year’ in the Lawyers Weekly Women in Law Awards 2022 produced in conjunction with principal partner Leo Cussen Centre for Law.

SOLE PRACTITIONER OF THE YEAR

The ‘Sole Practitioner of the Year’ category recognises outstanding performance by a female sole practitioner with up to three support staff or lawyer contractors operating in Australia over FY21-22.

GWA’s submission for this category highlighted some of the high profile creative projects delivered for our clients in the past year, from public artwork commissions to brand collaborations and advising new NFT (non-fungible token) platforms. We also profiled Alana Kushnir’s continuing role of educating art industry participants on the importance of the law as a commercial - rather than just defensive - tool.

Alana commented on being named as a winner of the Sole Practitioner of the Year 2022: “Guest Work Agency is the first dedicated art law and advisory practice in Australia, so it’s a huge honour to receive this recognition from my legal industry peers.”

ABOUT THE LAWYERS WEEKELY WOMEN IN LAW AWARDS

The Women in Law Awards is an unparalleled awards program that recognises and rewards the top female professionals in law across Australia. The national awards program presents an opportunity for leading women in the legal profession to showcase their achievements, attract more clients, and propel their careers.

This year’s black-tie gala awards ceremony celebrated the best and brightest in the business of law while highlighting the women working within the profession, including executives, partners, barristers, academics, pro bono, students, mentors, in-house lawyers, the rising stars of tomorrow, and many more.

Lawyers Weekly editor Jerome Doraisamy said:  “This awards program is the biggest and best celebration of Australia’s female legal practitioners — to take home an accolade on this night puts one in the upper echelons of the profession.”

Guest Work Agency is a boutique art law and advisory firm based in Melbourne, but is international in reach. It is the first dedicated art law practice in Australia, working with artists, collectors, galleries, arts organisations, art fairs and art tech start-ups.
